October 11 Poisonous Plants of Alabama-Little River Canyon Area This class is a brief overview of many poisonous plants in Alabama. There are many types of poisonous plants, learn how to spot them and what to do if you are affected by them. October 13 Extreme Night Hike This end-of-day adventure does not slow down just because it's dark.  Intended for a large group team-building exercise, this hike has a bit of bouldering, some scrambling, some spelunking, and a whole lot of required working together.  Headlamp and enthusiastic guide included. October 14 Rock Climbing / Rappelling Adventure Combo Nestled in the NE corner of Alabama are some of the best and unique sandstone cliffs in the country.  Come experience first-hand what rock climbing and rappelling is all about with guides who are fun, safe and energetic. October 15 Wild Cave Tour Go beyond where the average tourist explores!  This 2.5 hour adventure is for those of you ready to explore on your knees, on your belly, in the mud and through tight tunnels.  Explore in one of NE Alabama's most unique all-weather caves, Manitou Cave, in the heart of For Payne.  Adventure includes helmet, cave lamps plus a fun informative guide.  Meet at True Adventure Sports.    $30 per person.  5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. 256-997-9577

October 15 Campfire Talk: Aquatic Ecology of Little River Join us for a fun campfire talk in the great outdoors! Join JSU’s Dr. Mark Meade for an interesting program about different organisms that can be found in the watershed of Little River. Seating is limited, so bring your own comfortable camp chair if you wish. DeSoto’s Campfire Ring in the Improved Campground (In case of inclement weather will be located in Nature Center) from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free to the Public; Great for all ages! 256-997-5025

October 15-17 First Annual Alabama Thunder Bikers Festival and Concert  Come join the Fun! Live Music from Adam Tomlin Band, Jonathon Alverson & The Hillbilly Circus Band, Cool Hand Luke and more! Tickets for this 3 day event are $30 per person at the gate or $25 per person if purchased online. Event will be held at North South Cycles at 665 County Road 251 in Dogtown. Camping is available on site. No one under 21 will be allowed.

October 16 – 17 The 26th Annual Mentone Colorfest This event kicks off with its traditional bonfire and storytelling in the heart of downtown Mentone. Arts, crafts, great food, live entertainment and much more fills Mentone Brow Park Saturday and Sunday with fun and excitement. 256-634-8245
