August 19 Rock Climbing / Rappelling Adventure Combo Nestled in the NE corner of Alabama are some of the best and unique sandstone cliffs in the country. Come experience first-hand what rock climbing and rappelling is all about with guides who are fun, safe and energetic. This trip includes all the gear plus basic instruction. August 20 Mountain Bike Tour This tour explores some beautiful trails and paths atop Lookout Mtn or Sand Mtn. Come have an enjoyable ride with TAS & without the fear of getting lost. This three hour tour includes a mountain bike rental, instruction, and a guide for safety, direction, and information. $65 per person 3 pm to 6 pm 256-997-9577
August 21 Thunder By the Canyon 6th Annual Rally & Concert This is an event fun for everyone!! For all of you bikers, jump on and ride the VIPER! Bike Rally will depart on the Viper from North South Cycles at 9:00am. Cost is $15 per bike. Not interested in bikes, come out and enjoy a variety of bands including; Still Kickin, The Muddy Water Band, Tiffanie Miller, Shadow Academy, Nuthin Fancy, Bonita Eileen and Kellie Johnson. The concert begins at 12:30pm and admission is $10. Grounds will host food vendors and merchandise vendors for you to enjoy. There will also be a 50/50 Raffle. Proceeds will benefit the DeKalb County Grief Support Group. 256-845-6626.
August 21 Rappelling Basics Class This class covers rappelling basics indoor and basics outdoor. The basics indoor class teaches you about rappelling safety/rappelling gear and its application, rappelling knots and application, and rigging points needed for rappelling. The basics outdoor class reviews safety procedures, knots, gear, and rigging points; then you learn how to safely rappel and do several rappels before returning to the store for the rappelling test and knot exam.
