April 19 Extreme Night Hike This end-of-day adventure does not slow down just because it's dark.  Intended for a large group team-building exercise, this hike has a bit of bouldering, some scrambling, some spelunking, and a whole lot of required working together.  Headlamp and enthusiastic guide included. April 20 Bouldering Adventure Atop Lookout Mountain Come experience first-hand what bouldering is all about with guides who are fun, safe and energetic. This trip includes all the gear plus basic instruction. We will climb on some of the best boulders atop Lookout Mountain. April 20 “Get Your Ducks in a Row” Earth Day Event  This event will be help at the Valley Head town park and will pen with a brief history of Earth Day. The first 50 guests in the park will receive a free grocery tote. Guests can visit displays, go on nature walks, or even take part in environmental activities and crafts. Their will be food vendors on site. The grand finale for the evening will be a duck race. Participants can sponsor a duck prior to the race and have a chance to win $50.  Event begins at 5pm. In there is bad weather, event will take place April 23.

April 21 Mountain Bike Tour This tour explores some beautiful trails and paths atop Lookout Mountain or Sand Mountain. Come have an enjoyable ride without the fear of getting lost. April 21 Wild Cave Tour Go beyond where the average tourist explores!  This 2.5 hour adventure is for those of you ready to explore on your knees, on your belly, in the mud and through tight tunnels.  Explore in one of NE Alabama's most unique all-weather caves, Manitou Cave, in the heart of For Payne.  Adventure includes helmet, cave lamps plus a fun informative guide.  Meet at True Adventure Sports.    $30 per person.  5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. 256-997-9577

April 22 - 25 The Little Shop of Horrors The Northeast Alabama Community College Theater group invites you to their rendition of this popular production. Shows begin at 7 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. 256-638-4418

April 24 Spring Open Studio at Orbix Hot Glass Twice a year we open our Studio for a day of glass blowing fun! Watch master artist Cal Breed as he molds glass into unique shapes. Glass blowing demonstrations, studio tours, refreshments and a gallery featuring Breed’s work make this event memorable. April 24 National Junior Ranger Day at Little River Canyon National Preserve & DeSoto State Park National Park Junior Ranger programs will be presented at various times on this date. April 24 River Rhythms Family Fun Programs: National Junior Ranger Day Join Canyon Center staff and volunteers every fourth Saturday of the month for fun nature programs including hikes, crafts, games, nature talks, activities and more. Kids will be led through special National Park Service Junior Ranger activities and become official Little River Canyon NPS Junior Rangers. Booklets, posters, certificates and badges will be presented while supplies last. Little River Canyon Center Some programs may have limited space so preregistration is encouraged. 256-782-5697
