September 15 Poisonous Plants of Alabama-Little River Canyon Area This class is a brief overview of many poisonous plants in Alabama. There are many types of poisonous plants, learn how to spot them and what to do if you are affected by them. September 15 Joyce Cauthen Old Time Music JSU’s Little River Canyon Center presents Joyce and her old time music. This program supports the Smithsonian Institute Exhibit, New Harmonies: Celebrating the Roots of American Music which is scheduled to appear at Hunt Hall in Fort Payne from August 29 to September 19.  6 p.m. – 8 p.m.  No Fee; 256-845-3548 or 256-782-5697

September 16 GPS Basic Training and Navigation Class Part 1 Learn how to use a map, compass, and a handheld GPS. Learn basic navigation and how to pinpoint a location for quick return, or quick rescue. Also learn how to search by waypoints or coordinates. Note: Compass and handheld GPS is required. September 16 - 18 High Adventure Trip This is a 3 day adventure including a Wild Cave Tour, Rock Climbing, An Extreme Night Hike and end with a relaxing canoe trip.  Price includes all activities, attractions, permits, fees, gear, and guides.   Food and lodging are not included. $137 per person. 10 a.m. on Wednesday to 1 p.m. on Friday 256-997-9577
September 17 3nd Annual Mayor's Cup Golf Tournament The Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce and the City of Fort Payne will host this Boom Days Event. It will be a 4 man scramble held at Terrapin Hills Golf and Country Club with a 9:00 a.m. shot gun start. September 18 Wild Cave Tour Go beyond where the average tourist explores!  This 2.5 hour adventure is for those of you ready to explore on your knees, on your belly, in the mud and through tight tunnels.  Explore in one of NE Alabama's most unique all-weather caves, Manitou Cave, in the heart of For Payne.  Adventure includes helmet, cave lamps plus a fun informative guide.  Meet at True Adventure Sports.    $30 per person.  5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. 256-997-9577

September 19 9th Annual John Benge Commemorative Motorcycle Ride  We welcome you to join us as we ride in commemoration of DeKalb County's Cherokee Indian Heritage and all Indian Nations who were forced to walk on the Infamous Trail of Tears.  The Alabama Fan Club Parking Lot will serve as the congregating location for bikers in their preparation to depart on the 9th Annual John Benge Commemorative Ride Saturday at 7 a.m. The ride is strictly voluntary and you Ride at Your Own Risk. September 19 Boom Days Heritage Celebration This annual art and musical event displays citizens of Fort Payne taking a second look at their past and the heritage passed down to them through the arts and crafts of our area.  The Boom Days Heritage Celebration will feature many of these facets in the presentation of musical performances as well as art displays in Fort Payne City Park.  10 a.m.  256-845-2741

September 19 Outdoor Laser Tag This activity is fun and challenging while much safer than paint ball.
