DIRECTIONS TO MENTONE, HURRICANE CREEK
- From: Huntsville or Decatur, AL
Take Hwy 72 E out of Huntsville towards Scottsboro, Alabama. Take the Hwy. 35 exit at Scottsboro.
Turn Right Go across the river; take first left on County Road 40. Stay on Co. Rd. 40 until it merges
and becomes Alabama 117. Follow 117 all the way up Look Out Mountain into Mentone.
- From: Birmingham, Gadsden, or Montgomery, AL
Take I-59 North to Exit 231 Turn right onto Alabama Highway 117. Follow 117 South all the way up
Look Out Mountain into Mentone.
- From: Nashville or Chattanooga, TN
Take I-59 South to Exit 231. Turn left onto Hwy 117. Follow 117 all the way up Look Out Mountain
into Mentone.
- From: Atlanta, GA
Take I-75 North to Exit 306. (Adairsville); Turn LEFT off ramp onto GA 140. Stay on GA 140 (toward
Armuchee) for 7/8 miles. You will cross over GA-53 (toward Summersville) for another 7/8 miles.
Turn RIGHT onto US-27 N / GA-1 N. Continue to follow US-27 N / GA-1 N for 13 miles. Turn LEFT onto .GA-48. Continue to follow GA-48 (toward Menlo) for 20 miles, noting that GA-48 becomes AL-117. Follow 117 to Mentone.

Coming up Look Out Mountain on 117 from I59, TURN Right on Co. Rd. 89 Follow the signs to DeSoto State Park. Go about 5.7 miles turn Left go about .8 miles turn Right to Desoto State Park.
Drive thru the State Park and go about 2.3 miles to Deer Run Road where you will turn left. This turns about .1 mile past a barn that has its roof painted with a man's pictue. Deer Run is a dirt road. Follow it all the way to the end (about ½ mile).
YOU CAN ALSO CAME BY WAY OF FT. PAYNE
Take Exit 218 from I59. Follow County Road 35 East through the town of Ft. Payne all the way to the top of Look Out Mountain. Turn Left on County Road 89 at the Flashing light on top of the mountain. Go 3.7 miles to Deer Run Road. Turn right. This turn is about .1 mile past a barn that has its roof
painted with an advertisement. Deer Run is a dirt road. Follow it all the way to the end (about ½ mile).
